How long will my session last?
My packages have options for a 60 minute, 90 minute and 120-minute session. If you feel you will need or would like more time for your session just give me a shout and I can tailor the package to fit you.
Where will it be?
We can either do the session in the comfort of your own home, or out and about. This is entirely your choice.
How many people can be included in the photos?
I don’t have a limit on the number of people you can have in your photos, but bear in mind the amount of time we will be spending together. It may not be entirely possible to capture a group of 20 people in 45 minutes.
Can I request specific photos to be taken (e.g. grandchildren/grandparents, solo of kids.)?
Of course, just let me know during the consult so I can make a note of any specific photos you would like.
Can our pets be a part of our photos?
Absolutely, just let me know during the consult.
What do we need to bring?
Nothing. Just bring yourselves. If you wish to have any props used in the photo session then please bring them along too.
I know what kind of look I want, but I’m not sure what locations to go to in order to achieve it. Can you suggest options?
Yes. We can always go through a few suggestions and options before or during the consult.
What should we do to prepare for the session?
The only thing I ask is that you are neat and tidy for the photo shoot. Wear clothing that you will enjoy looking at in your photos, make sure hair is tidy and little things like that.
What comes with the packages?
All my packages come with a free pre-session consult, photo session, your photos edited and enhanced to bring extra life and a low resolution online viewing gallery that you can share with friends and family.
If it rains, do you have a studio to shoot at?
Unfortunately not, but I am happy for us to look at re-booking your session.
Will we have the option to use props?
Yes, you will, but please remember that you will need to bring your own props along to the session.
How do we go about securing our session?
A non-refundable initial payment of 50% will be required to secure the session. After the initial payment has been made I do not advertise availability of this same time slot to any other potential clients.
When is the best time of year to schedule my session?
I am a believer that the best time is when you are ready to have your session. Spring and summer are great times to have a session on the beach, and autumn in a park means I capture you surrounded by some gorgeous colours, but it is entirely your choice.
What time of day is best for a portrait session?
As I mentioned before, the best time is what works for you, though I usually recommended to avoid midday if it is exceptionally bright and sunny. Some of the best photos can be taken during what is known as the golden hour. This is a period shortly after sunrise or before sunset during which daylight is softer than when the sun is high in the sky.
What happens if you’re sick or are unable to shoot the session on the scheduled day?
If for whatever reason I am unable to complete the shoot on the day that we have agreed, I will either arrange with you to shoot on another day, or if you prefer I would deliver a full refund to you.
How will we know how to pose?
My shooting preference is for you to look as natural as possible while being loosely posed. I will guide you through the poses as we progress through your session. There will be occasions when we set up some very structured and intentionally posed photos, but I will walk you through them too.
How many outfit changes can we have?
You may have as many outfit changes as you like, but please be aware that the time it takes you to change outfits will come out of the time we have together to shoot your session.
What if my children act up on the day of the shoot and we can’t get any good photos?
Children can be unpredictable, and can sometimes become easily distracted. I try to keep them as involved in the session as I can to keep their minds for as long as possible. If you are unhappy with the result we can reschedule the session at the cost of the chosen package.
I really don’t like “X” about me. Can we shoot around it?
Of course, these are your photos and I want you to be as comfortable as possible. Just let me know what it is you are not keen on and we can go from there.
Can this session be done at multiple locations?
Yes, it can, but please be aware that the time it takes to go between locations will come out of the time we have together to shoot your session.
In your professional opinion, how long much time do you think is needed for the session?
I like to have 60 minutes to shoot a session. That gives as a little time to reacquaint and then get started.
If you do post “sneak-peaks” online on your social network site, do you have to post mine?
Not at all. If you would prefer not to then just let me know.
I prefer black and white images. Will you edit them in color and black and white?
I use my artistic judgement to determine what is the best look for every photo, but if you would like to see a specific one in black and white or colour then feel free to ask.
How many photos do you typically take during the session?
The beauty of digital photography is having the ability to retake a photo if you don’t get it right the first time. I try to take 100-200 shots within a 60-minute period with a view to reduce that number in when the session has finished.
How many photos will I receive?
The number of photos you receive will be dependent on the package you have purchased; however, I will make as many photographs available to you in your online gallery as I can.
Do you offer professional retouching (e.g. zit removal)?
If it is required or requested then yes. please consider that the level of retouching will determine the amount of time taken to return your photos to you.
How long does it take to get the photos back?
This is dependent on the level of retouching that is required or requested for after the session. I aim to get photos back within one to two weeks, but I will keep you fully up to date along the way.
What should I/we wear?
You can wear what you like for your session, but I recommend that you consider clothing that you wouldn’t mind seeing over and again.
Do you have any samples of your portrait sessions?
Yes, you can find samples on my website and social media.
If we end up needing more time on the day of the session, can it be added on then?
Yes, it can. just let me know as we go through your session.
Do you bring an assistant with you?
No, at the moment I work by myself.
What days are you available to shoot portrait sessions?
Typically, I am available to shoot most evenings, Saturday afternoons and all day Sunday; but if you have a specific date and time in mind then I can look to see if I can accommodate.
Can I order more prints/products later?
Yes, you can. I offer a range of print and enlargements as well as other products. If you don’t see something you are looking for on my website, feel free to ask.
Why is your logo on all the photos? Will the logo be on the prints?
All photographs that are placed on social media or my website may be watermarked. This ensures an amount of protection. Any items you purchase will not have my watermark on them.
What type of payments do you accept?
I accept payment via bank transfer, PayPal or if required, by cash.
Are there any hidden costs?
There are no other fees, everything you see is all you pay.
